A fantastic species from Borneo! Clipeata produces round peltate leaves and white/red pitchers with an exaggerated hip. It is generally believed to be the first Nepenthes now extinct in the wild. Fortunately we have over 100 clones in TC so the future of this species is safe in cultivation. The first photo is the largest sibling of the Clipeata that we've grown out.
I have found that Clipeata grows well in intermediate conditions and appreciates high light levels. Similar to N. Rajah, N. Clipeata produces large root systems and should be given larger pot sizes. The species is more susceptible to crown rot than other lowlanders especially when small so it should be potted in well draining soil. Smaller plants do well in a soil mix consisting of a majority of coco chips.
Each plant is from a large random assortment of clones and is about 1-1.5" in diameter. Plant will be shipped unpotted, priority.
Note: A 72hr heat pack will be automatically added if low temps in your area are below 40F. If you live in warmer areas, please leave a note on the order if you would like a heat pack to be added anyways.
